The 2012 Developing Dreams Breakfast was a huge success for the Center. The audience enjoyed hearing Sister Helen Prejean speak about her experiences with the Louisiana justice system and because of the generous matching challenge grant from the Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation, this Breakfast received its most multi-annual pledges and donations!
The Dr. Frank McMains Helping Hands Awards were given to Mr. Ralph Werling and to the Society for the Preservation of Lagniappe in Louisiana (SPLL or Spanish Town Parade). Mr. Werling has been a dedicated volunteer and advocate of the Center. He had a child that received services at the Center and he has volunteered on the Center's board for over thirty years. He is an advocate for people with disabilities. In December 2012, Mr. Werling retired from his board service. The staff, board and clients are truly grateful for Mr. Werling's contributions.
SPLL has been a wonderful community force for good. Not only do they bring the fun with their annual Spanish Town Parade during Mardi Gras, but also with their Ball and other activities. SPLL has supported the mission of the Center and other organizations in Baton Rouge and has generously donated proceeds from their events to support the children that come to the Center. We truly appreciate all of your support. Thank you.
