A peer review team examined each applicants information for compliance with the Louisiana Standards for Excellence and an independent Standards Compliance Committee approved the McMains Children's Developmental Center to receive the Seal of Excellence.

The Louisiana Standards for Excellence are based on fundamental values such as honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility, and accountability. For certification to be awarded, McMains Children's Developmental Centers services, management, fundraising, and financial practices were examined in depth.

Janet Ketcham, Executive Director of the McMains Childrens Developmental Center, said that she is proud to be among the first group of nonprofits to receive the voluntary certification. "This gives the public another way to measure the integrity and accountability of nonprofit organizations, which is especially useful when surrounded by requests for donations from so many groups."
