McMains Childrens Developmental Center Earns LANO Seal of Excellence
McMains Childrens Developmental Center has been awarded the Seal of Excellence by the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations. The LANO Seal of Excellence is granted to well-managed, responsibly governed organizations that are deserving of the public trust. The Seal designates successful compliance with the Louisiana Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector. McMains CDCs programs and services, management, fundraising and financial practices were examined in depth before the certification was awarded.
McMains CDC was granted certification during the first year of the accreditation program in 2004. Each nonprofit is certified for three years and then must be re-certified under the same rigorous process. McMains CDCs operations were found to meet the high standards set forth by the Louisiana Standards for Excellence Department.
Janet Ketcham, Executive Director of McMains CDC, said, We are proud to be one of the 31 nonprofits in the state in 2007 to be awarded the Seal of Excellence by LANO. While submitting to the scrutiny required for certification wasnt easy, it was a worthwhile process for us. Our Centers work on behalf of children with developmental disabilities exemplifies both our dedication to the cause and to meeting the highest standards of organizational best practice. We will continue to strive for excellence.
McMains CDC is a tax exempt, charitable nonprofit whose mission is ito identify and treat children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and learning disabilities to enable them to reach their potential and to function as independently as possible. The Center additionally aims to enhance the quality of life for the families of these children. We are an agency of United Way and the UCP of Baton Rouge affiliate.
